THE OBJECTIVES OF:

• Understand Permit to Work & Stop Work Order Procedures as a critical component of the Safety Management System (SMS) required by the International Safety Management (ISM) code
• Implement Permit to Work procedures to formalise safety-critical tasks and manage high-risk activities effectively onboard
• Ensure all personnel are informed of risks, hazards, and control measures before commencing work, with regular reviews to update safety protocols
• Understand the importance of human factor for safe operations and clarify accountability for personnel involved in operation planning and execution
• Understand the use of Stop Work Order Procedures to enable immediate intervention in unsafe conditions and unsafe acts is observed. The process to follow in stop work order procedures

COURSE OUTLINE:

• Understand and apply the importance of Permit to Work and Stop Work Order in ensuring safety onboard.
• Learning to apply permit to work system on high-risk activities to mitigate potential risks.
• Understand the need of the stop work order. Identify unsafe acts and conditions.
• The process to follow in requesting a stop work order and resuming the operation.
• Understand the issues that may arise when safety standards and practices are not adhered to
• Understand and conduct risk assessment to prevent and reduce the risks involve.
