The Tripartite Maritime Training Award (TMTA) is a career development programme that prepares Singaporeans and Permanent Residents to join the maritime industry and pursue their aspirations as Marine Engineers onboard ocean-going ships.
The Distance Learning Programme (DLP), aka Phase 2, requires students to sail onboard ocean-going ships for a minimum of 12 months accumulatively. They will be given DLP Assignments consisting of the series of modules below. The DLP Assignments are to be completed onboard together with the Training and Assessment Record Book.

2) DLP-Engineering Knowledge-General
3) DLP-Maintenance & Repairs of Electrical & Electronic Equipment
4) DLP-Machining, drilling & welding of workpiece onboard ship
5) DLP-Maintenance/Overhauling of Auxiliaries
6) DLP-Naval Architecture
7) DLP-Engineering Science
8) DLP-Engineering Mechanics
9) DLP-Industrial Chemistry
10) DLP-Engineering Thermodynamics
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
· Certificate of Completion in Tripartite Maritime Training Award (Engine) Pre-Sea Preparation Training Course
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
All the modules will consist of 100% tutorials (DLP assignments). To successfully complete the training, cadets must pass all modules, with a passing mark of 50% for all modules. There may be an extension of up to 36 months of sea time if the cadets fail the tutorials (DLP assignments).
Upon successful completion of the training, students will be issued the following documents:
