The Tripartite Maritime Training Award (TMTA) is a career development programme that prepares Singaporeans and Permanent Residents to join the maritime industry and pursue their aspirations as Nautical Officers onboard ocean-going ships.

In the TMTA (Deck) Training Programme, aka Phase 3, is a preparatory course for students before they take their Certificate of Competency Class 3 Deck Officer examinations. Students will be attending full-time classroom-based training and practical lessons for 6 months, covering a series of modules listed below. This course is in accordance with the provisions of regulation II/1.2 of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, 1978 (STCW 1978).

They will learn through a series of lessons, conducted by specialists whom themselves were former seafaring professionals and industry practitioners. Knowledge is disseminated via multimodal inputs, so that students learn through slide presentations, videos, notes, textbooks and tutorials. Practical exercises leveraging the use of technology add pedagogical holism, where students learn chartwork and navigation utilizing the Full Mission Navigation Simulator as part of the Navigation module. In addition, learning and assessment is also conducted via online learning platforms.
