Basic Training For Service Onboard Ships Subject To The IGF Code


THE OBJECTIVES OF:

    This course aims to help seafarers meet the Regulation V/3 of the STCW Convention, which specifies the mandatory minimum requirements for the training and qualifications of officers, ratings, and other personnel on ships subject to the IGF Code. To address the challenges of recent use of gas, including LNG, and other low-flashpoint fuels in shipping, the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) implemented the International Code of Safety for Ships using Gases or other Low-flashpoint Fuels (IGF Code) in 2015 and integrated related aspects into the STCW Convention. By completing this course, seafarers ensure compliance with Regulation V/3 of the STCW Convention, which outlines the mandatory training and qualification standards for those operating on ships using the IGF Code.


ENTRY REQUIREMENT:

    All staff on vessels subject to the IGF Code.


COURSE OUTLINE:

    At the end of this course, learners will be able to:

    • Contribute to the safe operation of a ship operating under the IGF code
    • Implement precautions to mitigate hazards on ships subject to the IGF code
    • Adhere to occupational health and safety precautions and measures
    • Effectively respond to emergencies on ships subject to the IGF code
    • Take measures to prevent environmental pollution resulting from fuel releases on ships subject to the IGF code
