Developing A Safety Just Culture


THE OBJECTIVES OF:

    This course aims to nurture an atmosphere of trust, where people are encouraged to provide safety-related information and take accountability of performing their duties. This course also develop the skills to nurture behaviours that build adequate trust where there are no inhibition to report practice and behaviours leading to “safety failures”. It helps participants to apply strategies in the shipping industry to develop “Just Culture” onboard ships.

COURSE OUTLINE:

    At the end of this course, learners will be able to:

    • Examine the cause of human error onboard
    • Applying the “Organisational Iceberg” to interpret human behaviour
    • Identify factors that may lead to and cause Trust Deficit within the team
    • Learning to use Emotional Intelligence to respond appropriately when Negative Information is being shared
